Waiakea is a bottled water company with roots in Hawaii. This bottled water company cannot be compared to other companies for more than one reason. First, the water is bottled from a fresh spring whose source is the top of Mauna Loa, an active volcano. The water is filtered through thousands of feet of movement down the volcano. The spring is located in a town called Hilo, located on the big island of Hawaii; the environment from which this water is sourced is one of the cleanest and purest on Earth. The water is naturally alkaline with a pH of 7.8-8.8 and contains high amounts of silica, as well as active and necessary enzymes for optimal human health. Waiakea is the epitome of what water should be!
Second of all, Waiakea is arguably the most environmentally friendly plastic bottled water company on the market. The way that they are able to manage this is by:
1. Bottling water from a source that is constantly refreshing itself due to constant rain,
2. Bottling at a facility that uses 33 percent reusable energy,
3. The packaging is made with 100 percent recycled polyethylene teraphtalate,
4. Their manufacturing process reduces carbon emission by 90 percent when compared to other companies, and
5. The plastic bottles are BPA free.
Pretty impressive, right? Well that’s just the beginning.
Waiakea directly supports a non profit organization called Pump Aid. Their mission is to build special pumps in underdeveloped and remote villages around the world. Once these pumps are made available to these small communities, the inhabitants are able to access fresh, clean, and more importantly, safe drinking water. The pumps are easy to maintain and simple enough to install. This non profit benefits many small communities in need, but it’s main focus with the Waiakea partnership is a country in Southeast Africa called Malawi. In Malawi, 85 percent of the population lives in isolated areas that lack access to clean water. With the addition of these pumps to the small communities in Malawi, living conditions will drastically improve for generations to come. A percentage of proceeds received by Waiakea are donated to this amazing project.
With that said, why not indulge in the islands by treating yourself to the magic that is Waiakea water?! You will be doing yourself a favor as well as those in need!
